Virginia Wood Beckett, 102, of Columbia, formerly of Salisbury, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Columbia Manor in Columbia.
She was born Aug. 7, 1903 in Keytesville, the daughter of Theodore and Dell (Crawley) Wood. She married W. Bryan Beckett on Sept. 9, 1923 in Columbia and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1977.
Mrs. Beckett was a homemaker and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in rural Keytesville and the Shannondale Extension Club. Mrs. Beckett moved to Columbia in 1994.
Survivors include one sister, Frances L. Dierking of Columbia and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, John O. Wood and Ben Wood.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20 at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with Bill Smart of Missouri Hospice of Columbia officiating. Burial was in Asbury Cemetery south of Keytesville.
Pallbearers were Mel Smarr, Rusty Smarr, Bryan Montgomery, Rich White, Greg Stevens and Doug Stevens.
