Allen Wood, 58, who had been in ill health for a number of years, died at his home at 323, North Campbell Street at 4:50 o'clock Sunday morning. He had been in a critical condition several days.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lorene Wood, of the home; a brother, Holbert Wood of Homesdale, Ore., and a sister, Mrs. Dave Burton of Kingsville.
Funeral services were conducted at the Brownfield chapel Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. R. C. Williamson of Sedalia, assisted by the Rev. Clifford Rogers, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Lester Pearce sang "Face to Face" and "Sunrise," with accompaniments by Mrs. George Dunn.
Pallbearers were Wilbur Durrett, Davis Sloan, Garland Courtney, Cleve Fristoe, Gilbert Bell and Geo. Dunn. Burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Son of Lon and Ida Wood, Allen Wood was born in Pleasant Hill April 7, 1890, and spent most of his life here. To old friends he was best known by his nicknarne of "Rags."
He was married to Miss Lorene Warner June 26, 1937, and their married life was spent here.
Mr. Wood learned the molder's trade at the scale foundry here as a young man, and spent many years at that occupation, which was blamed for a lung ailment which had made him an invalid for several years and which finally took his life.
