Mrs. EMMA D. WOOD
The funeral of Mrs. Emma D. Wood, past supreme chief of the Pythian Sisters, who died Thursday, Jul 19, 1923 at the home of her son, E.A. Wood, in Tulsa, Ok., was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 21st, from Sicilian hall, Knights of Pythias, 2940 Troost avenue. Mrs. Wood was the widow of Martin D. Wood, for may years superintendant of the Western Union Telegraph Company here. She was the daughter of Dr. Seth D. Bowker, an early Kansas City resident and physician. Mrs. Wood founded the first temple of the Pythian Sisters here, in Missouri. Pythian Sisters Lodge No. 32, were in charge of the funeral.

Emma D. Wood was buried at Union Cemetery on July 21, 1923, in Section 19, Lot 13. There is a large dark gray granite monument on the lot, there is no inscription for Mrs. Wood.
