Edward Allen Wood
Birth: 1865
Death: 1930

British Army Brigadier General. Born in British India, he began his military career as a Private in the 17th British Royal Lancers. He later served as an officer in the Bechuanaland Border Police and commanded a Matabeleland Mounted Police unit in the South African War in 1906. During World War I, he commanded the 6th King's Shropshire Light Infantry and was promoted Brigadier General of the 55th Brigade in November 1917. On September 20, 1918, in an intense enemy barrage at Monument Farm, France, alone and unarmed, he captured more than twenty Germans. After the war, he served as a cavalry officer commanding a formation of Black and Tans. His awards included three Distinguished Service Orders and the French Croix de Guerre. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
