Miami, OK-Linda Marion (Wood) Martin, 61, administrative assistant, formerly of Miami, died Friday in Garland, Texas. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and service 2 p.m. Wednesday, both at Paul Thomas Funeral Home. Shipman's, Pryor.

Linda Marion Martin of Garland, Texas, 61, made her transition to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2011 after a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. Linda was born on September 19, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Miami High School in 1967. Linda attended Northeastern Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University graduating in 1971. She married Clifford Martin making a wonderful life together. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher to 1st and 2nd graders for 28 years. Linda worked as an administrative assistant for numerous engineering firms (Boyle, TBE and L.A.N.) Linda was a lovely lady of faith who touched so many lives. She will live on in the hearts and memories of those she loved. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Paul Thomas Funeral Chapel in Miami, Oklahoma with Reverend Leon Weece officiating. Interment will be in the GAR Cemetery at Miami, Oklahoma with Chris White, Jason Thomas, Park Jones, Bob Morton, Howard Mandat and Danny Alexander serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home in Miami on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Support of Susan G. Koman for the Cure of Breast Cancer in Linda's memory would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service. Linda is survived by her husband, Clifford W. Martin; her brother, Donald E. Wood; sister-in-law, Pat R. Martin; brother-in-law, Jack W. Martin; nephew, Chris White; nieces, Stephanie Thomas and Amanda Ham; many other great nieces and nephews; many other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Marion Wilson Wood; her mother, Dorothy Elizabeth "Thompson" Wood; her brother Jack Robert Wood.
