Susanna Wood is the daughter and first born child of Samuel Wood and Rachel Ann Stevens Wood. She married Henry Sunderland (abt 1810 to abt 1876) on 27 Apr 1837 in Anne Arundel Co., MD.
They had 11 known Sunderland children. She named 2 after her parents Samuel and Rachel. Several are buried here.

On the inside back cover of Sarah E. Stevens Wood's cabinet card album, it lists her husbands siblings and includes "Aunt Susanna (Aunt Jodie's mother) married Capt. Henry Sunderland."
Tombstone Inscriptions of Southern Anne Arundel County, Marlboro NSDAR, 1967, p. 8; Wife of Henry Sunderland, age 50 years.
The Story of the Methodists in Friendship, Anne Arundel County, Md. 1760-1975, Gladys M. Lassiter 1975, lists a grave in the old section, Lot 46 for H. Sunderland with no other notations. It is "assumed" that this is Susan's husband, Henry. (written by site creator)
I have connected H. Sunderland to Susan's site, believing he is Henry Sunderland and am currently collecting data to prove/disprove it. So far, I cannot disprove it. They are both in the same plot 46. His gravestone is no longer there. Several of his children are also buried here, making an even stronger connection.
Henry and Susan appear on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Calvert Co., MD Censuses. Henry and Susan are buried in the older section of the cemetery. The only other H. Sunderlands that I can find on the Calvert Co., Maryland census are Henry, his son and grandson (both Henrys).
Henry Sunderland is listed on the Mount Harmony School logs, paying tuition in 1851 and 1852 for Lemuel, Henry J, Augustus and Josiah.
At the time of Henry's death he died seized and possessed of his 200 acres, called Sunderland Farm. It was deeded on 5 Dec 1885 to his sister Susan's brother, Francis Stevens, by Trustees by Decree in Circuit Court of Equity, passed 3 Jan 1885 in case of Amelia & Wallace Owings et al against Francis Stevens & others. The land was adjacent to Mrs. Kate Brown, heirs of Saml W Ward, Mrs. Richardson & heirs of Henry Owings of S & others. Calvert Co., MD Deed SS-7-59. Since the court house burned down in 1882, I suspect many papers are lost giving the full details of Henry's estate and deed(s).
