Decatur- March 1 - Mrs. M. C. Davenport, a former resident of Springfield and a daughter of Milton Wood of that city, died this morning at her home in this city. Mrs. Davenport had been ill over a year. Her father was here a few days ago and her condition was so improved that arrangements were made to take the sufferer south for her health.

Mrs. Davenport sustained a relapse, however, and gradually became worse until the end came.

Brief mention was made Friday morning of the death of Mrs. M. C. Davenport at the family residence on West Wood St. The sad news was received with many expressions of sorrow by the friends of the decedent. Her death was due to valvular disease of the heart, having suffered intermittently with the trouble of a number of years...

Mrs. Davenport's maiden name was Ida Wood, and born in Morgan County, 14 Feb 1863. She is the only child of Milton & Clarinda Wood, with her parents removed to Sangamon County where she grew to womanhood. She married Marion C Davenport in 1879, and in 1881 they removed to Springfield, where they resided until 1899 when they came to this city. United with the Baptist Church... She leaves a sorrowing husband & two daughters, Fannie & Marie.
