Lillian Akin, a woman of God, who travelled the highway of heaven for 84 years, completed her earthly journey on June 3, 2011.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in The Rock Church, 1006 S. Jackson St., with the Rev. Phil Lester officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Lillian was born March 25, 1927, in Amarillo to Will and Bessie Womack. She married Carl Akin July 31, 1940, in Amarillo.
A loving mother and grandmother, she was the spiritual pillar of our family and was known as a prayer warrior. She fought a valiant fight for six years against multiple myeloma.
She was preceded by her husband, Carl Akin; a son, Dana Akin; and a great-granddaughter. Those left to cherish her memory, two daughters, Delois Bennett and husband Tom and Carla Stevens and husband Vondell; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Sherri Aylor, Tom Bennett, Michel Roberts, Joy Cain, Jamie Tosh, Toby Stevens and Shea Jackson; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Willie Mae Murger of Oregon; and a brother, Louis Womack of Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to The Rock Church, P.O. Box 1466, Amarillo, TX 79105.
