Vivian Marie Womack Warner, age 104 years and 2 months, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2005, in Dallas.
Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, with the Rev. Kenneth Short officiating.
The family receives friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 18, 1901, in Blossom, the daughter of Henry Marshall and Sarah Aletha Allen Womack. She graduated from the College of Industrial Arts in Denton in 1923 and taught school until retiring in 1967. During one period she managed to teach three grades at once in the same schoolroom. She received a master’s degree in 1949 from TSCW (now TWU) and was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. After retirement she tutored students and taught defensive driving, and was an avid reader, fisherman and golf enthusiast. She was a member of the Classroom Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the Beauceants.
She married Samuel Wiggins Warner on June 28, 1925, and the marriage spanned 65 years until his death in 1990. She was a remarkable woman and much-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She may have been born in Blossom, but she knew the secret of living life to its fullest bloom and touched countless lives along the way with her intelligence, wit, determination and spirit.
She is survived by daughter, Patsy Ruth Weatherford of Dallas; son, the Honorable Samuel Womack Warner of Long Beach, Calif.; daughter, Emily Sue Rogers and husband, Jerry, of Dallas; grandchildren, Douglas Weatherford and her very special friend, Daniel Stokes, both of DeSoto, David Weatherford and wife, Kathy, of Dallas, Laura Carroll and husband, Ron, of Dallas, Carrie Smith and husband, Roger, of Arlington, Jeff Rogers and wife, Dannah, of Forney; and nine great-grandchildren, Robert, William, Bradley and Jack Weatherford, Dane Carroll, Cara and Aaron Smith, Camden and Cason Rogers.
The family would like to especially thank the owners and staff of Hillcrest House for their kind attention and care during the final months of her life.
