Wife of Paul Lewis Sterner
NEW OXFORD - Goldie I. (Wolfe) Sterner, 93, of The Brethren Home in New Oxford, formerly of Glenville, died Tuesday at The Brethren Home. She was the wife of Paul Sterner, who died in 1982.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at The Brethren Home Meeting House. Burial will be in Black Rock Church of the Brethren Cemetery. There will be no viewing. The J.C. Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sterner was born June 6, 1904, in Carroll County, Md. She was the daughter of the late Amos M. and A. Elizabeth (Royer) Wolfe.
She taught in Carroll County schools for 25 years. She received her teaching certificate from Elizabethtown College in 1927. She was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren, Faith Community of The Brethren Home, and Carroll County Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Sterner is survived by two stepsons, Clair Sterner and Paul Sterner, both of York; two stepdaughters, Anna Hoover of Spring Grove and Mary Werner of Hanover; 10 step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary E. Volland of The Brethren Home, Ruth M. Delano of Cross Keys Village and Madeline W. Roth of Boiling Springs.
Officiating at the service will be her pastors, the Rev. Donald G. Hubbell and the Rev. Warren M. Eshbach.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Good Samaritan Fund, in care of The Brethren Home Community.
