|Birth: ||1770, USA|
Mary Magdalena Catharine Hedirck's parentage is still in question. Wolf family oral history and some early written documents said she was daughter of Capt. Peter Hedrick but that can be disproved. Best data puts her in Goetdmann Heydrick, son Hans/Johann Adam Heydrick, son Christopher Hetrick & 3rd wife family. She was found to be between 60 and 70 in 1830 AR census. Based on that, the records of the Hetrick family that I believe she descended from list her birth date as 1733. I am placing her with these parents, but AM stating that I do not really HAVE PROOF. There was the death of a second wife and a third marriage. The time lapse is well shown between the last son by the second wife and the first daughter belonging to the third wife. The father was very elderly. If data can be found after 15 November 2003 to prove another set of parents for Mary Magdalena Catherina Hetrick, then I would certainly accept such. Hopefully, some other family member will take up the task of trying to prove who her parents were because at this point it is only best guess.
If this Christopher Hedrick was her father, Mary Magdalena Catherine would have been 8 years old when he died; so it is reasonable to me that her father's brother, Peter Hedrick - father of Capt Peter Hedrick, would have taken the family in and thus have given her the close association with Capt Peter Hedrick which has been well documented. I believe she was Capt. Peter Hedrick's cousin and not his daughter as some early researchers speculated. The elder Peter Hedrick did not die till 1798 which was some 17 years after the death of his brother, Christopher - the person I believe to be the father of Mary Magdalena Catherine Hedrick. It has always been believed but unproven that Michael Wolf's father, Jacob Wolf, served under Capt. Peter Hedrick during Revolutionary War. We know they were friends as they lived on adjacent land in NC and Capt. Peter Hedrick was bondsman when Jacob Wolf was appointed Constable in Salisbury, NC in 1788.
Christopher Hetrick's third wife is only known as Anna Barbara from bap records of his last known children: Maria Margareta b 1769; Bernard b 1771; and Maria Mathalena b 1773. He was a very old father, but all these Hedrick men were.
One other possibility could be that she is granddaughter to a Hedrick male we have not found yet. Christopher may well have had a wife and children before he emigrated (at age 34) to USA, and we know of at least one child of he and his 1st or earlier wife had when he was 42 (earliest known bap date for children).
Regardless of her parentage, Mary Magdalena Catharine Hedrick married Michael Wolf and became the mother of his thirteen children.
