|Birth: ||Jan. 18, 1861|
|Death: ||Oct. 2, 1949|
Another of Kerr County's pioneer citizens passed into the great beyond Sunday morning when Mrs Martha Ellen Witt, 88, passed to her reward. Rev J.R. Hilliard and Rev J.E. Mack officiated at the services held in the First Methodist Church. Interment was in the family plot at Center Point Cemetery with Smith's Funeral Home in charge of the rites.
Mrs Witt, who made her home in Kerrville with her daughter, Mrs J.R. Herndon, had been ill but a week before her death occurred.
She had a sweet and kindly disposition and a rare sense of humor and was a favorite with young and old. She lived a long and useful life and often remarked that she had more than her share in happiness of life.
She had been a member of the Methodist Church since early girlhood and united with the church in Center Point soon after she moved here with her parents, the late James and Nancy McElroy in 1876. She married W.H. Witt in 1878 and lived in that community until his death in 1925.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Herndon of this city and Mrs George E Thomas of Center Point, son, Isaac Witt of Fresno, California.
Pallbearers were Sol Thomas, George Thomas, Gerald Thomas, G.P. Bevill and Lloyd Ray Kitchem.
