The funeral of John L Witney was held last Friday afternoon from the Masonic Hall, the local lodge of that fraternity holding the services. Many friends were present paying tribute to the memory of one who in his lifetime had been a highly respected citizen and true friend. Following the services Tuolumne Lodge No 8 F&AM escorted the remains to the IOOF cemetery where the body of the deceased brother was returned to the earth that gave it life. Relatives other than those in this county who attended the last sad rites were two sisters, Mrs M L Campbell, San Luis Obispo and Mrs Minnie Barton, Hollywood, several nieces and nephews.
