Where death relieves the physical sufferings of one it brings the pain of sadness and distress to many.
Friday evening at nine o'clock, Mrs. Clare Beachley, wife of Mrs. H K Beachley and daughter of P A Witmer, Esq., died at her home on Cannon Avenue, after a serious illness of three weeks. She was surrounded when death came by those nearest and dearest to her on earth. A husband, a mother and a father, and the end was as a calm sleep. The cause of her death was puerperal fever. During her illness, Mrs. Beachley had periods of semi-consciousness when she failed to recognize members of her family. She died on the day of the month upon which she was born, the 30th of January, 1869.
Mrs. Beachley was married 13 years ago last September in St Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church. It is remembered as one of the prettiest weddings ever held in that church, and the great number of presents received, manifested the popularity of the young bride and groom, so early separated in life. Mrs. Beachley returned to her home in July from a pleasant and beneficial visit to parts of Ohio and Illinois in excellent health. She was a bright, pleasant and popular woman wherever known, and her death will be the source of universal regret and sorrow.
Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messrs. W Scott Bomberger, Harry B Irvin, John C Artz, Frank E Cook, Robert e Shafer and Harry K Powles, all of whom except Mr. Powles, were ushers or attendants at her wedding.
