Verna L. Eggen, 68, Crane Lake, died Friday, April 11, 1997, at the Cook Hospital.

She was born at Moose Lake on March 30, 1929, the daughter of William and Bernice (Block) Wisneski. She grew up at Split Rock Township, near Moose Lake, and graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1946. Verna has lived in the Crane Lake area since 1946. She became the postal clerk for the Crane Lake Post Office in 1949, and was employed for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring as postmaster in 1986.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Buyck, the Orr American Legion Auxiliary, and was a past board member of the Crane Lake Chapel.

She is survived by a son, Arthur "Butch" (Jacque) Eggen of Crane Lake; a daughter, Virginia "Gini" Stahnke of Taylors Falls, Minn.; two brothers, Bernard Wisneski of Moose Lake and Stanley Wisneski of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a sister, Rita (Thomas) Golden of North St. Paul; two grandchildren, Jacob Themmes and Katrina Stahnke; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Buyck, Fr. Larry Antus O.M.I., celebrant. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Buyck.

Arrangements by Mlaker Funeral Home, Cook.
