Cecelia "Ceil" Berchem, 98, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Jan. 31, 2006, at home.
She was born on April 11, 1907, to John and Theresa Blatz Wirtz of St. Peter.
In 1929, Ceil married Math Berchem at St. Peter.
Ceil was the ultimate hostess, welcoming all to her home for dinners and conversation. She enjoyed traveling all across the United States, Mexico and Canada, as well as Europe. Her leisure activities included card playing, doing crafts, crocheting, embroidering and a 22-year history of doing rummage sales. Her interest in people, places and events was important to her.
She was a member of Holy Family for 77 years and a member of the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary of Fond du Lac; her son, Don and his wife, Rose, of West Bend; two grandchildren, Anne Berchem of West Bend and Tom Berchem and his wife, Donna, of Chicago; two sisters, Veronica (Elmer) Reiser of West Bend and Bertha Morgen of Fond du Lac; one brother, Leo (Ursula) Wirtz of Waukesha; many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Math; one sister, Catherine Mand; and one brother, Alois Wirtz.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Victor Capriolo will officiate. Entombment will be at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.
Visitation: Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to the time of services on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the church.
