Olive Wirey, 78, Petersburg

Olive Wirey, 78, of Petersburg, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, May 28 at the residence of her daughter, Judy Craig, in Petersburg.

She was born in Pike County, July 22, 1919, the daughter of Harrison and Oma Loveless White. She married Melvin E. Wirey and he preceded her in death November 9, 1970.

Surviving are a son, Monte Wirey of Haubstadt; a daughter, Judy Craig of Petersburg; a brother, Clarence White of Mooresville; three sisters, Catherine Coan of Petersburg, Velma White of Francisco, and Thelma Whitehouse of Francisco; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Burl, and Roscoe White, and a sister, Gussie Ames, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were Sunday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Walnut Hills Cemetery.

PETERSBURG, Ind. -- Olive Wirey, 78, died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Judy Craig.

Also surviving are a son, Monte of Haubstadt; three sisters, Catherine Coan of Petersburg and Velma White and Thelma Whitehouse, both of Francisco; a brother, Clarence White of Mooresville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Melvin E., died in 1970.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hills Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
