Olive Johnson of Melita, passed away at the Carberry PCH on Monday, December 31, 2007. A service to celebrate Olive's life was held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm from the Victoria United Church, Melita, MB. with Reverend Chris Fickling officiating and the interment followed at the Melita cemetery.

Olive was born July 7, 1923 to Frank and Fanny Winterbottom in Dukenfield, England. She was raised in Dunkenfield with her older sisters Ada and Carrie. During World War II, at the age of 17 ½, she joined the Royal Air Force as a telephone operator. It was here she met her future husband Andy and they were married on December 23, 1944.
At the end of the war they were discharged and Olive and her infant daughter Linda, crossed the ocean to Halifax on the ship "The New Mauretania". She then traveled by train to Regina, where she was reunited with Andy. They spent a brief time at Andy's family farm in Indian Head Saskatchewan before they settled in Melita. Their family grew to four with the births of John, Ron and Elaine.
Olive was active in the community and spent many hours with the Melita 4-H club, Rebekah Assembly and War Brides Association.
Olive was predeceased by her husband Andy; her parents Frank & Fanny Winterbottom and her 2 sisters: Ada and Carrie.
She is survived by her daughters; Linda (Bruce) McAuley and Elaine (Morry) Stearns; her sons: John (Beverely) and Ron (Penny); grandchildren: Teri (Julian), Brett (Tanya), Angela (John), Chris (Natalie), Tyler, and Kerry; great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jayde, Kyleigh, Kaitlyn, and Olivia; also numerous nieces and nephews.
