PORTSMOUTH - Frances Julia Winstead Anderson, 88, of the 100 block of Allard Road, passed away June 22, 2010 at Autumn Care, Portsmouth. She was born Sept. 3, 1921 to the late Sally and June F. Winstead in Roxboro, N.C.
She was educated in the Person County public school system and North Carolina Central College. Frances retired after 23 years of service as a secretary for DePaul Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin P. Anderson; one sister, Annie Eubanks; and one brother, Charles Winstead.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Leathers; one sister, Margie Brooks; one brother, Harold F. Winstead (Frances); one grandson, Marvin C. Leathers; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Russell and Mary Anderson; one brother- in-law, Walter Anderson (Hattie); one special cousin, Corrine Laws; a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel. The Rev. Gloria N. Dowtin will officiate. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
