ASSUMPTION -Dorothy Ellen Tankersley, 84, of Assumption died 2 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 14, 1995) in Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials: Assumption United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Tankersley was born Sept. 10, 1911, in Lake City, the daughter of V.I. and Mary Bandy Winings. She was a former employee of Flora Jewelers, Decatur. She was a member of Assumption United Methodist Church, Tacusah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Assumption, Assumption Woman's Club and Assumption Music Club. She married Carl Tankersley July 15, 1929, in Rockville, Ind.

Surviving are her husband; son, John H. Tankersley of Gibson City; daughters, Rosemary Douthit of Minong, Wis.; Barbara Sue Baker of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; brothers, Ernest Winings of Monticello; Sherman Winings of Missouri; sister, Barbara Lindsey of Monticello; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers.
