ATMORE – Agnes Ione Windham Gibson Howe, 87, of Atmore passed away July 19, 2011, at a local hospital.

She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Atlanta, Ga., where she attended Girls High School. In 1949 she moved to California, but returned to her hometown ten years later and worked as a bookkeeper until retirement in 1985. Mrs. Ione then moved to Atmore and in 1991 to Fairhope to be closer to the beach. She came back to Atmore in 2006.

She was a warm, engaging person who loved all of her family, friends, western movies, cats, butterflies and good clean jokes. All who knew her will miss her.

Her parents, Arthur James and Grace Gattis Windham and older brother, Jay Windham and sister, Joy Windham Dellinger preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, David Martin (Daphna) Gibson of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Linda Gibson Parsons of Atmore and Gina Howe (Frank) Nottingham of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren, Drew (Joan) Parsons of Marietta, Ga., Michael Parsons of Auburn, Kyle and Cory Notthingham of Roanoke, Va. and seven great grandchildren, Nathan, Zach and Claire of Marietta, Ga. and Stephen, Sarah and Grace of Auburn.

A private memorial service was held.
