James Harold Wilt

Jim Wilt, age 79, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009, at approximately 10:00 am at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. He was born May 16, 1930, in Shelbina, MO, the son of Nelson McVae and Clara Lucille Olbert Wilt. On August 14, 1954 he was united in marriage to Alta Mae Crow. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1986. He later married Linda Fay Allee on April 18, 1987. She survives. Jim is also survived by seven children, Bryan Wilt and his wife Cathy of Shelbina, MO, Debbie Moore and her husband Rod of Quincy, IL, Donna Brittingham and her husband Jim of Moberly, MO, Diane Barton and her husband Randy of Clarence, MO, Jimmie Wilt and his wife Dena of Macon, MO, Allan Wilt and his wife Cara of Shelbina, MO and Angelia Maxeiner and her husband Mark of Quincy, IL; seventeen grandchildren, Stacy Teal, Curt Wilt, Matt Wilt, Angela Benz, Dana Hynek, Jessica Moore, Christy Bates, Christopher Brittingham, Stephanie Turnage, Amanda Barton, Paige Klocke, Hallie Wilt, Carlee Wilt, Jared Wilt, Jeffrey Wilt, Jarah Wilt and Reece Maxeiner; nine great-grandchildren and two brothers, Dr. Jack Wilt of Pekin, IL and George Wilt of Shelbyville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; one infant son, Harold Dean Wilt and three brothers, Junior Wilt, Wayne Wilt and Bobbie Wilt. Jim accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbina, MO. He attended Heathman Elementary and was a 1948 graduate of Shelbina High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from October, 1951 to September, 1953. He was a grain and livestock farmer in Monroe and Shelby Counties and in his early years he was a truck driver. He served many years on the Shelbina Community Fire Board, was a 56 year member of the Shelbina American Legion Post 376 and was awarded the Outstanding Farmer Award in 2000 by the Shelbina Chamber of Commerce. Jim?s greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Shelbina, MO with burial to follow at the Shelbina Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Memorials may be made to the Shrinerchr(39)s Crippled Childrenchr(39)s Hospital, March of Dimes or Charity of the Donorchr(39)s Choice.
