Margaret Ann Wilt Agnew

Margaret Ann Agnew, 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. on Friday, August 22nd at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS where the Rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day (Saturday), at 9:30 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS , 66208. Entombment will be following Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. A Bishop Ward High School Alumnus and lifelong Kansas City and Prairie Village Kansan, Margaret raised seven happy, wonderful, successful children with the love of her life, Charles. Margaret and Charles married on September 26, 1942 and remained happily married for 65 wonderful years. She laughed easily and often and her perpetual smile was contagious. Margaret never said a bad thing about anyone and many will remember her as the sweetest woman in the world. Homemaker extraordinaire, she kept her house always on the ready for the many family gatherings enjoyed by her close knit family. She treasured those gatherings. She loved cooking and sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Anton and Clementine Wilt and her oldest daughter, Carolyn who succumbed to cancer in 1983. She will be lovingly and happily remembered by her husband Charles, their son Richard and his wife Louise; son Gary and his wife Donna; daughter Kathleen Halpin and her husband Jeff; son Michael; daughter Linda Schieber and her husband Robert; and daughter Nancy. Grandma will also be missed and lovingly remembered by 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and many others whose lives she touched and, thereby, enriched. The family is particularly grateful to Garden Terrace at Overland Park Alzheimer's Facility and Crossroads Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Ann's Catholic Church and Crossroads Hospice.
