CAMERON - Kathryn W. "Kay" Green, age 92, of Cameron, died on Nov. 26, 2006 in Lexington. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Norton and Rev. James E. Lafferty officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mrs. Green was born in Normangee on Nov. 15, 1914 to Eugene Roe and Margaret "Maggie" (Jones) Wilson.
She was a graduate of the Teague Schools and Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton in 1937. She taught home economics classes in McGregor and Lorena schools. Mrs. Green moved to Cameron as assistant extension agent for Milam County.
She married Carrol Monroe Green in 1939.
Mrs. Green graduated from Landig School of Mortuary Science in 1943 and began operating Green Funeral Home while her husband was serving in World War II. She was a funeral director for over fifty years.
With Miss Mary Belle Batte, she helped in opening the old county jail into the present Milam County Museum under the supervision of Milam County Judge O.B. Hardin.
Mrs. Green was a member of the First United Methodist Church, she was active in the Delphian Club, Three Arts Club, and Cameron Saddle Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and her son, Carroll Green Jr. in 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Pam Browder of Lexington, Valerie Hill of Coppell and Lynette Sweeney of Paducah; two sisters, Opal Hanbey of Lacey, Washington and Rosalie Withrow of Thousand Oaks, California; brother, Gene Wilson of Tyler; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
