Born in Sweden on September 25, 1872, August Wilson came to the U.S. in 1890. Married to Hannah Hokenson of Lake Station in 1894. They had one child. Wilson worked as a section foreman for the Lake Shore Railroad. He and co-worker Hans Peterson died after the speeder (railroad maintenance car) they were on was hit by a sand train traveling from Dune Park to Chicago. The funeral for both men was held at Swedish Lutheran Church (Bethel) in Miller and both were buried in Miller Cemetery.
