PIONEER LADY GONE TO HER REST
After many weeks of suffering, Mrs. T. E. Palmer finds rest in the great beyond, Saturday morning, May 30th, 1914. Had she lived until today, she would have reached the 89th anniversary of her birth.
Anne Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson, was born at Yorkshire, England, near the York Cathedral, June 4th, 1825. When she was seven years of age she came with her parents to America settling in the state of New York.
She was married at Brooklyn, that state, on October 1, 1845, to Thomas E. Palmer, at Calvary Episcopal church. After a residence of ten years there, they came to Chariton, Iowa in January of 1885. During their long residence here they were actively connected in the business and social affairs and growth of the city.
Mrs. Palmer was a life long member of the Presbyterian church and a devoted Christian and loving wife and mother. She made one visit to England, crossing the water three times.
She leaves to mourn her departure one son and two daughters, Charles and Mrs. Grace West of this city and Mrs. Anna Peck of Minneapolis, Minn.
The death of Mrs. Palmer closely followed that of her husband, after a companionship of almost sixty-nine years, and the funeral of both was held from the family home, Monday afternoon, June 1st, conducted by Rev. Aszman, pastor of the First Presbyterian church and interment made in the Chariton cemetery to await the final summons.
