H. Earleen "Red" (Gaughenbaugh)Wilson, age 83, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and formerly of the Centerville, Iowa area, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Senior's Care Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born the only child of the late Earl Gaughenbaugh and the late Fern(Eieringa)Gaughenbaugh on October 28, 1921 in Centerville, Iowa. Earleen's father served as Sheriff of Appanoose County in the 1930's. Her childhood home is now the former county jail and sheriffs residence. She graduated from Centerville High School.
In 1939, Earleen was united in marriage to Bruce A. Wilson of Centerville, Iowa in Unionville, Missouri. They owned and operated a lucrative antique dealership in Duluth, Minnesota for many years. Earleen was a devoted member of the Silver State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a 39-year member of the Almerican Legion Auxiliary in Centerville, Iowa.
Earleen was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and a son, Bruce B. Wilson, on March 19, 2004.
She is survived by: a son, Tom Wilson, of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters Sandra Vitolo of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Raffensberger of York, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Bruce C. Wilson; Adam Wilson; Robert Wilson; Wendy Hosclaw; Angela Dimio and Christina Dimio; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa at 10 am. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 9-10 am with the family present from 9-10 am. Memorials can be made to the Jail Restoration Fund.
