Mrs. Joyce Davis, 68, of 968 Davis Road, Cave Spring, died Thursday afternoon in a Rome hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Davis was born June 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Armister Burand Wilson and the late Annie Ruth Baxter Wilson. Mrs. Davis graduated from the Cave Spring High School in 1961, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cave Spring, and was an owner of the Davis Core and Pad Company of Cave Spring.
Mrs. Davis was married to William Davis November 9, 1962 and was preceded in death by him December 28, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kellie Renee Davis-McGinty of Cave Spring and Mrs. Christina Davis Sartin and her husband, James, of Calhoun; and by four grandchildren, Austin Aring, Madyson McGinty, Tyler Sarin and Davis McGinty. A brother, Billy Wilson and his wife, Lovietta, of Cave Spring; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Simmons of Cedartown and Mrs. Linda Roork of Villa Rica; two brothers-in-law, Joel Davis and his wife, Becky, of Cave Spring, and Philip Davis and his wife, Debbie, of Atlanta; and two special friends, Ms. Marcia Miller of Centre, Alabama and Mrs. Eva Cox of Cave Spring also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cave Spring with Rev. Jason Willis and Mrs. Tricia Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Mykel Drobisch, Jim Couch, Clyde Barnett, Lavon Owens, Chuck Barker, Lamar Williams, Jeff Casey, and Jeff Bridges.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
At other hours they will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Davis, Davis Road, Cave Spring.
Mrs. Davis will lie in state at the church Sunday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
