Mildred Genevieve (Wilson) Johnson, daughter of Carl & Sophia (Roberg) Wilson, was born April 16, 1919, at Wood, S.D. Mildred died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Heritage of Bel-Air in Norfolk, NE.
Mildred attended and graduated from Witten High School in Witten, South Dakota, with the class of 1937. On November 12, 1939, she was married to Herman Johnson at Winner, South Dakota. The couple was blessed with five children: Monte, Monica, Mickey, Murray, and Mark. During her lifetime, Mildred lived several places, including Witten and Winner in South Dakota, and Lincoln and Norfolk, in Nebraska. She worked as a courthouse clerk, an office manager, and was a devoted homemaker, but her greatest role was as beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Mildred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
Mildred is survived by: children, Monte (Mary) Johnson of Milligan, Nebraska, Monica (Vance) Zuerlein of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mickey (Nancy) Johnson of Ashland, Nebraska, Murray (Vi) Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mark (Deb) Johnson of Norfolk, Nebraska; sister, Jackie DeVries of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother, Lester (Elaine) Wilson of Aberdeen, South Dakota; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by: husband, Herman Johnson, in 2005; grandson, Jeff; parents; three sisters; and five brothers.
Interment was in The Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
