Peg was born in Scranton, PA, but resided in Des Moines since 1950. She was a Pediatric Nursing Instructor at Broadlawns School Of Nursing in the 1950's and later was the director of nursing at Bishop Drumm until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and had a love of the nursing profession.
She will be missed by her husband of 50 years, Vitus; her children, Margaret (John) Boyt of Iowa City, Frank Gerken and fiance, Mary of Steamboat Springs, CO., Mark (Debbie) Gerken of Colorado Springs, CO., Elizabeth Gerken of Des Moines, Jean (Jon) West of Woodstock, GA., her ten grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; and her brother, James Wilson of Willow Valley, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Hospice Kavanagh House on the 56th Street.
