Sylvia Elaine Wilson ONUSTACK
Age 77, of Edmonds, passed away April 1, 2012 after a brief, courageous battle with a brain tumor. Sylvia and her twin brother, Richard, were born in Seattle to Sam and Emily Wilson on Jan. 23, 1935. She grew up on Seattle's Beacon Hill, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1953. In 1955, Sylvia married her high-school sweetheart, Robert William Onustack, and they settled into their new home "out in the country" in what today is Shoreline, WA. They were blessed with three children: Steven, Gail and Terry. Sylvia primarily remained a housewife, while Bob worked as a Boeing manager. After Bob died suddenly in 1979, Sylvia became an electrical inspector at Boeing, where she worked for nearly 23 years until she retired in 2002. In 2006, Sylvia sold the family home after living there for 51 years and moved to a condominium in Edmonds. In retirement, Sylvia enjoyed water aerobics, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing slot machines at the local casinos. She also enjoyed several vacations and trips she took with her family to places far and wide, including Paris, London, Dublin, Hawaii, New Orleans and Las Vegas. She also became a veteran "cruiser" taking voyages to Mexico, New England and Canada. Sylvia cherished the time she spent with her family and is survived by her two sons, Steven (Tracy) Onustack and Terry Onustack of Lynnwood; her daughter, Gail Onustack of Lake Stevens; her sister, Marilyn Buchanan of Gibsonburg, OH; grandchildren Jennifer (Blake) Herbison of Bothell; and Nicholas (Tahnya Shafer) Onustack of Coeur d'Alene, ID; great-grandchildren Robert and Elizabeth Herbison and Niya Onustack; sister-in-law Paula Wilson of Walnut Creek, CA; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her twin brother Richard Wilson. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Evergreen - Washelli in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association , the American Cancer Society , or a charity of your choice.
