Mrs. Marie Dutton Wilson, wife of Truesdale Wilson, manager of the Wood-Mosaic Company, was fatally shot in the lobby of the Somerset theatre last Sunday afternoon by Mrs. Eva Cooper Wilson, divorced wife of Mr. Wilson, died in the Somerset Hospital a few minutes later.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Pearce and Mr. Huff, motored to Somerset to attend a picture show. After entering the show they decided to leave and were followed out of the building by Mr. Wilson's divorced wife, who stepped behind them and shot her four times in the side and the back.
Mrs. Eva Cooper Wilson was a native of Font Hill, Russell County. She divorced Wilson in 1929 naming Mrs. Marie Dutton Burns as correspondent. In May, 1931, Mrs. Burns secured a divorce from Burns and two days later was shot in the back by Mrs. Wilson. Some time later she was married to Mr. Wilson who is reported to have stated he did not know her until after his wife secured her divorce.
The Wilson's moved here in 1932 and have been living on Cave street. Mrs. Wilson was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She recently joined the local Christian Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Burns, three sisters and one brother.
Before her marriage, she was employed by the telephone co., and spent some time here in charge of the local office.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church in Somerset, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Mrs. Eva Wilson was arrested after the shooting and her examining trial set for Thursday. She is the mother of three children.
