Taylor, Tex., Feb. 9. -- H.I. Willson*, aged 82 years, died last night* at 11 o'clock in the Seton Infirmary at Austin afer a brief illness of pneumonia. Deceased had been a resident of Taylor for fifteen years and was visiting his son, Fred, in Austin when stricken. He was a Civil War veteran, a Lieutenant in one of the companies of Col. Hubbard's regiment; was born in Bowling Green, Ky., June 29, 1828; came to Texas when a young man shortly after his marriage and has since resided in this State continuously. His father, Rev. John S. Willson, built and was pastor of the original First Baptist Church of Louisville, Ky. Before retirement from active occupation, deceased was a college professor and a graduate of Georgetown University of Georgetown, Ky. He was twice married. By his first wife, who was Miss Lizzie Otwell of Louisville, he is survived by two sons, P. O. Willson of the Taylor Daily Democrat and Weekly Texan, and Fred W. Willson of Austin, and one daughter, Mrs. A.H. Crossett of La Mesa, Tex. By his second wife, who was Miss Alice Denman of Bell County, Tex., he is survived by two daughters, Miss Olive Willson of Austin and Miss Johnaphene Willson, a teacher of mathematics in the Bryan, Tex., High School. The remains were brought to Taylor today for interment in the city cemetery this afternoon. Funeral services occurred at 3 p.m. at the home of his son, P.O. Willson, conducted by Rev. John A. Arbuckle of Haskell, formerly of the Taylor Baptist Church and the deceased's beloved pastor. Accompanying the remains from Austin and here for the funeral were Col. R.H. Baker, his nephew, and the two daughters, Misses Olive and Johnaphene Willson. Dallas Morning News, February 10, 1910

*It has been suggested that his middle name is Isaac. Two obits say that he died on the 8th, but his TDC says he died on the 9th.
