Debra J. Edwards, 55, of Tahlequah, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at her home. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Griff Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester. Born Aug. 4, 1955, in Plainview, Texas, she was the daughter of Richard L. Sr. and Iva Jean (Cantrell) Wills. Her family moved to Pollock, La. in 1955 and moved to McAlester in 1969. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1973 and attended East Central University. She married Ed Gray in 1975 and her daughter was born in 1982. Her husband preceded her in death in 1984. She married Roger Edwards on Sept. 13, 1986, at Robbers Cave State Park in Wilburton. She worked for Tom Glenn, CPA for many years. She graduated from Northeastern State University in 2004, first in her accounting department class and was preparing to take the CPA exam. She was an active church member, played piano and taught Vacation Bible School. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Roger Edwards, of Tahlequah; daughter, Jennifer Clark and husband, Heath, of Edmond; grandson, Tyler Clark, of Edmond; her parents, Richard L. Sr. and Iva Jean Wills, of McAlester. Also, sisters, Janet Jackson, of McAlester, and Angela Peters and husband, Randall, of McAlester; brothers, Richard Wills Jr. and wife, Donna, of McAlester, and Dewey Wills, of Krebs. And, nieces and nephews, Derek Wills, Rebecca Watson, Steven Wills, Stephanie Wills, Brittney Harvey and Kendall Peters; two great-nieces; one great-nephew and numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dewey and Ida Wills, and Ivy Cantrell, and her first husband, Edward Gray, in 1984. Pallbearers will be Richard Wills Jr., Dewey Wills, Randall Peters, Kendall Peters, Derek Wills and Heath Clark.
