WILLS - Martha Irene, 82, of Owasso, went home to be with her Lord and many loved ones on August 31, 2002. Martha was born to Essie and George "Will" Burkett on January 11, 1920 (3rd of 11 children) At the time of her birth her parents owned the property that is now known as Mohawk Park. During her life she lived in Tulsa, California and Oregon and visited many other exciting places while her husband engineered commercial construction projects. Upon retirement they happily returned to the Tulsa area to enjoy their golden years with much of their family. We always enjoyed her stories about her days forming for Spartan Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII. She was proud of her contribution to the war effort building P-38s. Her life was an amazing journey highlighted by her loving grace and many spiritual gifts. She was a prayer warrior and a servant and many were often comforted knowing she was "on the job." Martha was preceded in death by: by her beloved husband, Darrel; son, Fred; 5 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by: her daughter, Charlotte and son-in-law, Carl Young of Santa Barbara, CA; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Service was held at her "second home," Rose Hill Community Church, on September 7. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery.
