Willis, Henry C: (TS*: 1869-1947; shared stone w/Marie); “Henry Willis, Retired Farmer, Answers Call. Davenport, Wash., April 4.—Henry C Willis, 77, a resident of this community for 36 years, died yesterday. He had been ailing for several weeks and had suffered two strokes during recent months. Mr Willis was born in England and came to this country in 1903 and to the area north of Davenport in 1911. He farmed on Indian Creek, northwest of town, for many years and after the death of his wife some years ago moved to Davenport and operated a greenhouse and garden in town. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs August Reinbold of Davenport; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces.” (Davenport Times: undated, submitted by family); (Edit: The death certificate of Henry’s daughter, May L Reinbold, shows her mother as Elizabeth Ralph. The family has a photo that shows her maiden name as Rolfe. Henry and his first wife, Elizabeth, were the parents of three known children, George H, James Sidney and May Lillian. Elizabeth died in 1898 in England in childbirth with their daughter May. Henry remarried prior to the 1901 census in Essex, England. In 1910, Henry and Marie were with two children, James Sidney and May Lillian, on the Miles, Lincoln Co census; in 1920, Henry and wife on the Indian Creek, Lincoln Co, census; 1930 on the Egypt census. James Sidney Willis died in 1931 with burial in Egypt’s Frans Cemetery.; see also news item) “An order appointing H C Willis administrator of the $1,000 estate of his wife, Maria Willis, who died August 28 on Indian Creek, was signed this week. All the estate goes to Mr Willis.” (Odessa Record: 9-06-1935)
