Mrs. Margaret Jane Willis Goolsby, age 88 of Crockett, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 in the Whitehall Nursing Center in Crockett. Mrs. Goolsby was born July 8, 1919 in Crockett, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Crockett. Mrs. Goolsby was a 1936 graduate of Crockett High School. Mrs. Goolsby attended Mary Hardin Baylor and Baylor University. Mrs. Goolsby married Dr. Carl B. "Jack" Goolsby her childhood sweetheart in 1942. Mrs. Goolsby was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Redbud Garden Club.
Mrs. Goolsby was a housewife and also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crockett.
Survivors include her daughter Susan Goolsby Courter, of Katy; son John Carl Goolsby II, of Houston; grandchildren Lacey Marie Courter, of College Station, John Patrick Courter, Katherine Rose Goolsby, both of Houston; special friend and companion Lauda Taylor, of Crockett; special cousins Dian Bennett Jones, of Bryan; J. Walter Bennett, of Conroe, Ruth Steed, of Crockett.
Preceded in death by her husband Dr. Carl B. "Jack" Goolsby on August 4, 1989; step-father William F. Churchhill; mother Evelyn Bennett Churchhill; father Richard Kelly Willis; and cousin, Vira Jo Bennett Atkinson.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Margaret Jane Willis Goolsby were held Friday, February 22, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Crockett with the Rev. Johnny Bear and Dr. Jerry House officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
