Gretchen Martin Branscome, longtime Oak Ridger, passed away on Oct. 24, 2007, at Norris Health and Rehabilitation. She was born to Samuel A. and Alma Boyd Williamson on April 17, 1912.
Mrs. Branscome was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Oak Ridge, member of Oak Ridge Chapter of Amaranth and Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Gray Ladies of Kerbela Temple.
She was preceded in death by son, Samuel James Martin; by husbands, Daniel B. Martin and Reuben Branscome Sr.; and by brother, Billy K. Williamson.
Survivors include her children, Billy D. Martin and wife, Betty Sue, of Clinton, and Hugh Doyle Martin and wife, Wilene, of Gladesville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Gail Martin of Powell; grandchildren, Jill Berry of Kodak, Greta Walden, Broken Arrow, Okla., Hope John of Knoxville, Paige Knowles of Powell, Renee McMurray of Nashville, and Tanya Crawford of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and brother, A. Ray Williamson and wife, Elynor, of Nashville.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Clay Mulford officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Norris Health and Rehabilitation Center and Adventa Hospice Services for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
