Clydie Travis, 82, of Anton, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Brenner Funeral Home in Akron. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Akron Cemetery. She was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Fort Morgan to Clyde James Williams and Metta Louisa (Martin) Williams. She grew up in Fort Morgan and attended Fort Morgan Public Schools. On Feb. 27, 1954, she married Clifford Dale Travis of Flagler. They lived and farmed in the Anton area. Mrs. Travis was payroll clerk for many years at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Fort Morgan. She operated and managed the Prairie Flower Motel in Anton and ran the Anton Café. She worked for various restaurants as a cook or baker. She was baptized in her adulthood at the Thurman Mennonite Church. Mrs. Travis is survived by her husband, Cliff of Anton; children, Coby Travis and wife LuAnn of Sterling, Joleen Carman and husband Alan of Akron, Terri Ellis and husband Larry of Loveland and Shelley Travis of Akron; sisters, Joyce Wiederspan and husband Ed of Evans, Geraldine South and husband Donald of Fort Morgan; brother, Dallas Bowles and wife Linda of Fort Morgan; grandchildren, Lisa Travis, Christopher Travis and wife Kathy, Jennie Reese, Garrett Carman, Travis Carman and wife Andrea, Gage, Cole and Jessi Fletcher; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Akron United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
