HARRISVILLE - Lillian Ethel (Williams) Blanchard of Harrisville went to be with Jesus on July 28. 2016. Born in Greenville RI on August 8, 1919, she was one of nine children of Ethel and Clarence Williams. Lillian was 96 at the time of her death.
Lillian worked in the textile industry in northern RI for many years. She also worked as a kitchen supervisor at Zambarano Hospital and at Chepatchet Pharmacy. After she retired she contributed countless hours volunteering at various community organizations. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the game with her friends in the Melody Hill ladies leagues. In addition to golf, her summers were given to gardening, also a favorite outdoor activity. Flowers or vegetables, it made no difference, she passionately worked the soil to bring life from it. To the great enjoyment of her family and many friends she was an outstanding cook and baker. She was also an accomplished knitter who enjoyed spending endless hours creating hats, mittens and other accessories for charities in the state. She loved to travel to distant places and enjoyed accumulating historical information on the places she visited.
Lillian was a dedicated member of Pascoag Community Baptist Church. She faithfully served her Lord, her church and the people of God any time she could and any way she could. She willingly used her many skills to serve others.
Lillian was very proud of her heritage and the Williams name in Rhode Island. She considered being a descendant of Roger Williams and the legacy of freedom and independence he established for the state and the nation an honor to be cherished and conveyed to everyone.
Lillian was preceded in death by Bert Blanchard her husband of 42 years and her daughter Audrey Sutcliffe. She is survived by daughters Barbara Toti of Pascoag, Catherine Credle of Etowah, N.C., Debra Peterman of Jacksonville, FL and Eileen Roy of Harrisville. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are by Boucher funeral Home in Pascoag. Her funeral service will be held at Pascoag Community Baptist Church, Rev Bryan Speroni and Rev Barry Peterman officiating. The viewing will be held in the Church at 2 PM followed by a funeral service at 3 PM on Sunday, . Following the service her remains will be interred at Slatersville cemetery in Slatersville, RI.
