Mrs. Dorothy G. Williams Ayres, 87, of Middletown died Nov. 8, 2005, at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick. She was married to Leonard E. Ayres, who died in 2002, for 54 years.
Born Oct. 18, 1918, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Betty E. Koogle Williams. She was raised by her aunt, Bessie Boyer, and John W. Boyer.
After moving to Middletown in 1980, she attended Pleasant View Church of the Brethren. Prior to her retirement as executive secretary for the chief engineer at the Washington terminal at Union Station, she lived in Silver Spring for 27 years.
Surviving are two sisters, Anne Randallette of Kensington and Bettie Sapp of Fairfield, Pa.; a brother, Noel Williams of Brunswick; and a number of nieces and nephews, including nephew John Hedges and wife Pat of Walkersville. Mrs. Ayres was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ruth; sisters Sally Williams and Jane Hedges; brothers Herschel Williams, William Williams, Donald Williams and Beachly Williams; and a great-niece, Cathy A. Hedges.
A memorial services was held Wednesday at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick with the Rev. Beverly Stang officiating. Interment was private.
