Logan Woman Dies At Age 89
Mrs. Mary W. Schvaneveldt, 89, resident of Logan since 1900 died Friday evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. A. M. Clayton, Jr. The family home is at 146 South Fourth East, Logan

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 12 noon, in Logan Seventh ward chapel by Bishop Orson Cannon. Friends may call at the Lindquist Mortuary chapel Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Logan City cemetery

Mrs. Schvaneveldt was born Aug. 27, 1867 in Montpelier, Idaho, a daughter of Robert H. and Harriett Busenbark Williams. She married Joseph H. Schvaneveldt Dec. 19, 1888, in Logan Temple. Performing the rites were Apostle Marriner W. Merrill. Mr. Schvaneveldt died July 16, 1943.

Mrs. Schvaneveldt moved from Montpelier to Gentile Valley in Idaho at the age of seven, her father being one of the first settlers in that valley. She took an active interest in church functions, and was counselor in the first YWMIA organization there.

She also held positions in Relief society and other auxiliaries. After moving to Logan in 1900, Mrs. Schvaneveldt had been a Relief society teacher as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the William B. Preston Camp, daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Surviving are the following sons and daughter: Mrs. A. M. (Edna) Clayton, Jr., and Melvin E. Schvaneveldt of Logan, and Joseph H. Schvaneveldt, Jr. of Nampa, Idaho; one brother William W. Williams, Mesa, Ariz.; a niece whom she reared, Agnes W. Saxton of Las Cruces, N. M.; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
