Bertha Caywood Williams
April 2, 1917 – December 10, 2005
Mrs. Bertha Caywood Williams, 88, passed away on December 10, 2005 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She had lived in Rockdale since 1966, moving there from the Sandy Creek Community. Funeral services were held December 13 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
She was born in Milam County near Rockdale on April 2, 1917 to Albert Lee and Myrtle (Martin) Caywood. She married Cecil "Pete" Williams in Waco on November 21, 1935. Pete preceded her in death on November 11, 1976. She was a Dispatcher for the Rockdale Police Department from which she retired after 18 years.
She is survived by her daughter Peggy Ruth Dorr of Denver, CO; brother, Hubert Caywood of Minerva; sisters, Lillie B. Doss of Austin, Ella M. Caywood of Rockdale and Ivy May Laurence of Rockdale; granddaughters, Ja M Good of Florida and Katherine D. Dorr of Denver; great grandchildren, Tara A. Smith of Florida and Peyton Dorr of Denver. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, H.N. "Spud" Caywood and son-in-law, Fred Dorr.
Serving as pallbearers were Gary Jackson, Ronnie Caywood, Jerry Caywood, Don Wardlow, L.B. Kubiak, and Ernest Hoffmeyer.
She was a 1935 graduate of Rockdale High School and a member of Murray Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed working outdoors and mowing her lawn with her riding lawn mower.
