Doris Ann Passey Williams, 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, dedicated teacher, temple worker and friend, died peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2006, at Williamsburg Retirement Community, Logan, Utah.
She was born October 17, 1920, in Logan, Utah, to Edward John and Effie Budge Passey. She attended Whittier School, Logan Junior High School, and graduated from Logan High School in 1938. She graduated from Utah State University in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in English, and taught at Ashton High School in Idaho before her marriage to Charles Lewis Williams on June 22, 1943. They moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in September 1947, where they reared their family. She was an excellent homemaker, a loving, supportive wife and mother, and a good friend who liked to keep in touch.
In September 1960 she began teaching English classes at O'Leary Junior High School in Twin Falls. She was a very knowledgeable, dedicated teacher who expected the best efforts from her students, not only in the classroom, but in their everyday lives. She enjoyed reading, traveling, learning new things and seeing new places. To our knowledge and memory, she never said a bad word about anyone.
After her husband's death in October 1971, she continued to teach until May 1985, when she retired, and later that year served a mission at the London Temple. She moved back to Logan in 1986, and enjoyed making new friends and reuniting with several friends from her school days.
From 1989-1990 she served a mission at the Atlanta Georgia Temple, and upon returning to Logan, began serving as an officiator in the Logan Temple, from November 1990 until November 2004. She thoroughly enjoyed her service there.
In March 2005 she moved into Williamsburg Retirement Community, where she made several more new friends and, as usual, welcomed visits from her family and friends.
Survivors are a daughter, Ann Bedford Williams Calvert (Tony), Kirk Edward Williams (Jennifer, Ned Budge Williams (Robyn), and Scott Willys Williams (Lynette), 11 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 4 great-grandsons (with a great-granddaughter due in September). She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Cleone Louisea Passey Mortensen of Parowan, two brothers, Scott Budge Passey,v and Howard Budge Passey, and an infant grandson, Charles Edward Calvert.
