"Her children rise up, and call her blessed..."
My mother Louise Howell was born March 11, 1929, in Adairsville, Georgia, to parents Howard C.Howell and Mary Moss Howell. She grew up in in the Stamp Creek/Macedonia area of Bartow County. In her late teens and early 20s, she lived in Michigan, Texas, and Atlanta.
In 1957, she met Al Williams. They were soon married, and together they raised six children.
In 1970, they moved to Lebanon (Toonigh), Georgia, in Cherokee County, living in a house built by her husband Al. This was their home for the next 32 years until Al's death in 2002. The following year, she lost her son Scott Williams to a medical condition. Later that year, she moved back to her native Bartow County, living close to the cousins she'd grown up with.
In January of 2007, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of seeing San Francisco. Soon after her return home, she became ill.
On Febuary 04, 2007, she left us to join Al and Scott in their Heavenly home. Her last words were of her love for her children and family. Then she quietly slipped away.
My mother was one of the most loving people I've ever known. Her love was the most important influence in my life. No matter where I was in the world, I always knew "home" was wherever she was.
People who came to know her also felt that love. She always felt that it was important to express to others how you felt about them. It was rare that she ever said goodbye without saying "I love you" and embracing you in a warm hug.
I am thankful to God for blessing me with a mother who encouraged me, believed in me, supported me, and most importantly, loved me unconditionally and made sure I never doubted it.
