Lea Beazley, 75, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2007. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral HOme. Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Waco, with Dr. John A. Wood and Dr. A. Jack Green officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Lea was born in Beaumont, Texas, to the late Clarence and Hazel Wilkinson. She graduated from Port Neches High School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baylor University in 1952. While at Baylor, she met and fell in love with Bill Beazley, and they married on August 23, 1952. Together they made their home in Waco for the next 54 years raising four children. Lea was passionate about the youth program at First Baptist Church, Waco, authored two books about the history of the Ute Indians in Colorado, did extensive research on her family's genealogy, traveled extensively with her husband, and above all, loved to explore the mountains around Creede, Colorado.

She is survived by her husband, William H. "Bill" Beazley, Jr.; sister, Peggy Jean Dockery, of San Antonio; children, Nanci Elise Beazley, of Creede, Colo., Peggy Lea Hock and husband, Jon, of Dallas, William H. "Trey" Beazley, III, and wife, Beth, of Southlake, and Mary Frances "Fran" Phillips, and husband, Tom, of Dallas; grandchildren, Melissa Lea Dunlop, of Creede, Colo., Alex Hock, of Dallas, William, IV, Austin, Rachel and Ross Beazley, of Southlake and Sarah and Mary Lea Phillips, of Dallas.
