Long time Boise resident Fern L. Carpenter passed Saturday, November 20, 2010 after a long and interesting life.
Fern was born April 28th, 1916 in Encampment, Wyoming, daughter of Carl and Maude Wilford of the Jones-Wilford ranch near Saratoga, homesteaded by pioneer Henry Jones. Fern enjoyed horseback riding, skiing and skating, hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities growing up.
She traveled to school in a horse and buggy to a country school until graduation from high school in Saratoga where she met her husband to be, Harold E. Carpenter and married him in 1938. Fern, Harold & first son, Phillip E. came to Boise in 1945 when Harold went to work for Quinn Bros. & Robbins Construction Co.
Fern loved traveling, socializing with her sorority sisters, card club and her bowling league and spent many happy hours reading books and gardening at her home near Franklin grade school.
Harold still survives at this time, living with youngest son, Terry N. in Eagle, Idaho. In addition to husband Harold E. and sons; Phillip and Terry, she is survived in loving memory by four grandchildren; Vincent, Loretta, Steven and Mark.
A Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Cloverdale Funeral Home Reception Center.
