BANGOR - Emily (Wiley) Knapp, 97, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Bangor, the daughter of Edward and Ava (Gilman) Wiley. Emily graduated from Bangor High School in 1930. She went on to complete business college. Upon graduating she entered the work force, working for 25 years at Andrews Music House while also playing the organ for Hammond Street Congregational Church. She went on to work for 25 years at Sears in the auditing department and became the organist at Advent Christian Church.
Emily is survived by her daughter, Nancy MacKenzie and her husband, John, of Old Town; grandchildren, Patricia Eames of Bangor, Terry Bigelow of Durham, Sarah Bradley of Salem, Mo., John MacKenzie of Great Bend, Kan., and James MacKenzie of Old Town; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Rebecca Dunham of California; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Sidney W. Knapp; brother, Wilmont Wiley; and nephew, Michael Wiley.
Interment will be held at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. (Bangor Daily News 11/20/2010)
