ARMSTRONG - Clarence W. "Dutch" Wilburn, born April 16, 1924, in Sand Springs, OK, passed away, Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the age of 84. The son of Hubert and Elma "Pearl" (Nicholas) Armstrong, who preceded him in death.

He was a Crew Chief at American Airlines, retiring in 1983 after 34 years. He graduated from Central High School in 1942. He married the former Miss Shirley Willerton on January 28, 1950, in Turley, OK. Following a year of college at Oklahoma State University, he enlisted in the Army where he served over 2 years flying 35 missions as a tourette gunner in WWII. After attending Spartan School of Aeronautics and receiving his A & P License he worked at Brown Airport before going to work at American in 1949. He was very active in his church, Sheridan Avenue Christian for many years, serving as elder, trustee and managed property upkeep. He and wife Shirley were also members of Green Country Winnies Club for over 20 years, spending a great deal of time traveling across the United States in their Winnebago. He loved working in the yard, spending time with extended family and traveling with wife, Shirley.

He is survived by: wife, Shirley, Broken Arrow; siblings: brother, Leroy and wife Wanda, sister, Patsy Truax and deceased husband Nelson, brother, William "Bobo", sister, Gail Kring and husband Hugh; daughters, Malissa K. Whitaker and husband Larry, Sapulpa, Terri Sagely and husband Wayne, Broken Arrow; sons, Russell Armstrong and Lynn Haikey, Tulsa, Timothy and wife, Lynn, Broken Arrow; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grand-children.

Service is scheduled for 10 am, Friday, July 11, 2008, at Sheridan Avenue Christian Church under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. You may sign the on line guestbook by going to Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Thursday, Hayhurst, 258-9623.
