Margaret "Katherine Wilburn", 87, of Edmond, OK passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010. She was born February 22, 1922 in Wanette, OK to Henry Monroe and Julia (Doss) Keaton. Katherine grew up in the Wanette area graduating from Sasakawa high school. It was shortly after graduation she married Burrel P. Wilburn, the love of her life. They were together for 61 ½ years until his passing. The Wilburn's made their home in Midwest City where Burrell and, as he called her, "Shorty" both worked and raised their children, Carol and Phil. Katherine was employed at Raders grocery when the kids were young and then at the Tinker base exchange where she worked a cosmetic consultant for Revlon. Katherine enjoyed fishing and boating at Lake Eufaula, where they had a place for many years. She also enjoyed reading, going to church and gospel music. The family recalls many great memories of both Burrell and Katherine including: Christmas at midnight and many trips to Eufaula. Katherine was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Burrell P. Wilburn and 6 siblings. She is survived by her two children: Carol and husband Calvin Allen and Phil and wife Pat Wilburn; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister, a half brother, a half sister, 3 step-brothers and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately knew Katherine as, Aunt Kat.
